In the now very wide world of the IOT (Internet Of Things), we’re not even surprised anymore when we hear that there’s an internet-connected “computer” inside everything from our cars to our refrigerators to our light bulbs and doorbells and so on. It’s only slightly more surprising to find out that medical devices — some that are implanted within the body itself — contain those same computers.
But we often forget that any device that can connect to the Internet is also a device that can be hacked…including an ICD, short for “implanted cardioverter-defibrillator,” which is something like a pacemaker on steroids.
What if someone could hack your own heart?
